Developer Neil Brown has announced the release of a new version of mdadm. The tool is used for creating, assembling, reporting on and monitoring Linux Software RAID arrays. Version 3.0 of mdadm can now handle metadata updates entirely in the userspace, which allows it to support formats that the kernel doesn’t know about.
