New Features

Front Page gets a facelift

The front page news story teaser paragraphs have the timestamp and the source profile updated. We also removed some confusing controls that you probably never used.

Profile Updates & Facebook Connect

New profiles enable you to connect with even more linux pros and gurus! Make sure you update your skills, software you use, and other new profile info.  The advanced search feature will help slice and dice who you are looking for.

Some profile info such as your skills and software you use are listed in public profiles so make sure this is current info!

 

Too many accounts? You are not alone, you can now seamlessly login to linux.com with your Facebook account. See about about keeping your account profile up to date!!

Group Discussions

We place a new WYSIWYG html editor so you can bold, italics, and underline to liking

Article Submissions

The same WYSIWYG html editor is now available on the article submission page. The submission form has bee enhanced and streamlined. Got something hot off the press? new linux startup? tutorial? Get it posted on linux.com!

 

User Images and Photos

Linux.com now supports user uploaded photos and screenshots. Share your desktops, and more with our latest upgrade to the site. Photo sharing features are located under Applications -> Photos in your profile menu controls.

 

User Videos

Linux.com users can share videos from their favorite services, or upload videos and have Linux.com encode and host their videos. We have a growing set of categories, including Product Reviews, How-tos & Tutorials, and Screencasts.

 

Remember to update your blog preferences with the name and short description of your blog. Make linux.com blog platform your blog home. This will become more important as we deliver new functionality to you on mobile platforms that enhance your linux.com experience. If you have any feedback please let us know! More to come….
