When we think of open source distributions, we think of Linux and BSD being the backbone of distributions, but now there might be a major move in that OpenSolaris based distributions might be making a giant splash. OpenSolaris was recently released featuring the latest version of GNOME as its desktop and a simple to use installer program. OS 2k8.5 also comes as a live CD so you can boot it up and try it for yourself. We take a look into OS 2008.5.
