Rumors have been flying fast about the possible announcement of a so-called Gphone from Google in the coming weeks. Google has already partnered with carriers and handset makers stateside and abroad, and it will probably be a player in an upcoming spectrum auction held by the FCC. Stepping into the wireless world, though, would likely be a dramatic and risky shift in Google’s lucrative business model.
