According to IDC’s latest server data, the sale of Linux-based servers rose by 19 percent to $1.8 billion in the quarter. However, the open-source system still has a long way to go to catch up with Microsoft’s Windows server revenue, which grew by 18.7 percent to $5.0 billion and a market-leading 38.2 percent revenue share in the quarter.
