Once closed-source, always closed source. The Microsoft Research Online Lab apparently is now using some kind of peer-to-peer system called wallop (lowercase is correct) in which “you can share photos, blog, and interact with your friends.” However, “Membership to wallop is by invitation only. If you know someone who’s a member of wallop, have them invite you to join!” Know anybody who might want to invite you? Now there’s a good way to find out who your real friends are.
