Amazon’s Dynamo paper (PDF) is the paper that launched a thousand NoSQL databases, if you’ll pardon a twisted metaphor and wee bit of exaggeration. The paper inspired, at least in part, Apache Cassandra, Voldemort, Riak and other projects.
