Announcing the 20th Anniversary of Linux T-shirt Design Finalists

We are happy to announce today the 20th Anniversary of Linux T-shirt design finalists!

The final designs represent some of Linux’s inherent qualities as a ubiquitous operating system, especially as it approaches its official 20th anniversary. And, each design incorporates creative elements that we’d be proud to use as the basis for our LinuxCon attendee T-shirts and as the official 20th Anniversary of Linux T-shirt available in the Linux.com Store.

Just like last year, we couldn’t narrow the selection down to just five, so you will find six images from which to choose. In fact, this year was even more difficult to choose the best, since we received more than 130 high-quality designs. I admit: We’re happy to turn the rest of the decision-making process over to the Linux community! Now, it’s up to you.

Take a look through the finalists and vote for your favorites. You can vote once a day, and we encourage you to share the poll with your friends and colleagues online and rally community around your pick. Voting closes at midnight PT on June 22, 2011.

To review each design in more detail (and in much bigger size), along with each creator’s design title and description, and to vote, please visit the T-shirt Design Contest Voting page.

We want to thank everyone who submitted designs in this year’s contest. The creativity and breadth of talent represented in the designs are truly amazing, and we’re proud to be a part of this diverse community of people.

A reminder that the revenue received from sales of the T-shirt in the Linux.com Store will help The Linux Foundation protect, promote and standardize the Linux platform in the months and years to come. The creator of the winning design will receive airfare, hotel and an attendee pass to join us at LinuxCon in Vancouver, B.C. where their design will be splashed across hundreds of T-shirts worn throughout the event.
