Aryan Ameri writes “linmagau has published a document (co-authored by me) explaining the status of Free Software in developing countries, and the unique challenges that it faces in these countries. Using Iran as an example the document discusses some of the advantages that FLOSS in general and GNU/Linux in particular can offer in developing countries. It describes the important position that Free Software can play in the Iranian software industry and how the availability of source code can add to the customizability of software, and help it adopt easily to local needs. The article then focuses on some Iranian Open Source projects, namely linuxiran.org!, FarsiKDE and Iran’s first Linux distribution
called Shabdix GNU/Linux.”
