The Document Foundation announced the latest release of their popular Open Source office suite today, LibreOffice 3.5.3. The announcement had a bit of a tease this time as well.
But first things first, some of the improvements this release include:
● copy column privileges into table privileges
● fix – use older ODF encryption by default
● fix the fix so it doesn’t crash (tee hee)
● never let users save in /tmp by default
● fix find toolbar X error handling
● ignore corrupted items in Recent Documents
● do not increase height of checkboxes
Italio Vignoli also mentioned that a number of new developers are Google Summer of Code 2012 students and listed some of their planned projects. These include:
● collaborative spreadsheet editing using Telepathy
● a smartphone remote control
● a new UI for picking templates
● an improved Impress SVG export filter
