Acording .br News, a new voting machines using Linux are going to save US$ 8 millions in licenses on Brazilian elections. Although the software isn’t open source, the use of Linux as operational systems will save US$ 8 Millions in licenses until 2018. A new biometrical identification system is also being implemented, and will start being applied in 2008 elections.
