Bill Kendrick writes “After a year of development, New Breed Software released Tux Paint 0.9.15 last Friday, adding new features, new translations and numerous other improvements to the Open Source drawing program for young children.
The new release introduces new “Magic” drawing tools, including a smudge tool, brushes that draw grass and bricks, and a brush that turns realistic images into cartoons. It has also been localized to a whopping 55+ languages.
Tux Paint 0.9.15 also offers a number of improvements on previous versions, including updates to the “Text” and “Stamp” tool interfaces, improvements to the color palette, and support for a wider range of display sizes — from 640×480 to 1600×1200. Additionally, the font and stamp loading routines have been streamlined, greatly reducing both startup time and memory usage.
It’s currently available for Red Hat and Fedora CORE Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and as source code.”
