Red Hat Brings Gluster to OpenStack Shared File Service

At OpenStack Summit, Red Hat announced it was releasing a technology preview of Red Hat Gluster Storage with integration into OpenStack‘s new Manila shared file system project.

Manila was originally based on Cinder, OpenStack’s canonical storage provisioning control plane for block storage and for delivering a persistence model for instance storage. Manila is meant to provide coordinated access to shared or distributed file systems. Manila’s framework provides a vendor-neutral management API for provisioning and attaching different shared file systems. Manila is meant to operate alongside both Cinder and OpenStack Object Storage, Swift, services.
