“David” is a windows compatibility middleware that would sit on top of the free and open-source Linux operating system and enable it to run popular Windows applications such as Word, Excel, Quicken and Pagemaker, seamlessly.
Philippine-based SpecOps Labs is nearing the rollout phase of a bridge software that when made available commercially, will allow millions of computer users to run Windows-based programs using the rival Linux operating system. The beta version of the software is expected to be released toward the close of 2004 with the commercial release to follow in first quarter of 2005.
