It’s been a while since last talking about the Compiz project as they simply haven’t had any new releases or major developments in a while. Early this year the developers did announce that Nomad and Compiz++ would merge into Compiz and that Compiz Fusion would be dropped and other changes planned. In late August Compiz 0.9 went into beta, which carried some of this work, but since then there haven’t been any new snapshots of this next major Compiz release.¬†
Previously we have heard talks about Compiz 0.9.0 being done by the end of this year, and then less than a month ago there was a blog post by one of the developers that reads, “Considering that there is only the group, animationaddon, stackswitch, 3d, atlantis and dbus remaining to port, I would hope that we can get a 0.9.0 out before $FESTIVE_HOLIDAY. I‚Äôll be running through some of the other improvements that come with the new architecture before the release. My free time will increase *a lot* after Dec 4…”
