LinuxCon this year is taking place in Vancouver, B.C. and will mark the official celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Linux.
Attendees will get to hear about Linux’ stronghold in the enterprise from Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst while gaining a better understanding of the ways Linux and collaboration have impacted the world around us from Internet and society expert and author Clay Shirky. The full LinuxCon keynote lineup is available now online.
We’re working hard to make sure this year’s event honors Linux on its 20th birthday and brings content and celebrations to attendees that demonstrate the ubiquity of Linux today. That’s why we want to give everyone an opportunity to join us during this important year. Beginning today, we’ll be running a Twitter/Identi.ca contest in which we’ll give away one free LinuxCon pass per week. Just “tweet” what Linux means to you using the #linuxcon hashtag. We’ll do a random drawing every Monday and alert the winner via Twitter. Make sure you’re following @linuxfoundation on Twitter and on Identi.ca.
If you’re able to join us, get your dancing shoes out of the closet. The LinuxCon Gala will mark the official 20th Anniversary of Linux with a “roaring 20s” party that includes a live band, casino and penguin suit and flapper dress rentals. So, literally, “get your penguin on” this August.
