Government Linux users gather in D.C.

Linux World has a story about the firs annula Federal Linux Users’ Conference held a whole two weeks ago. The conference “focused on early or test-stage Linux applications that would ‘likely evolve into
enterprise-level deployments.’ Exhibitors, however, showed products already on the market, and most of the
government projects that won awards were already live. It appears that Linux and the government are, if not falling over
each other, then at least coming to terms.”

First taste Of .Net available

Internet Week via TechWeb reports on Microsoft delivering the first test versions
of software that will let developers build applications based
on its.Net architecture. “It remains to be seen how committed Microsoft is to
making .Net work across other platforms, said Meta
Group analyst Will Zachmann.

‘Whether the runtime environment is going to be on Linux
or Unix remains to be seen,’ Zachmann said. ‘If they’re
smart they will do that.’ “

Two labels want more money from MP3.com
