Starting next week, Dell will offer two Dimension Pentium III-based 4100 systems with the THX certification, says David Bowes, Dell’s marketing manager for information appliances. The company will also soon ship a Pentium 4 system with the THX certification, he says.

IBM launches computer recycling program

For a fee of $29.99, IBM will accept all manner of PC parts
through its IBM PC Recycling Service, reports the Chicago Tribune. The fee includes
shipping costs, so consumers need only to box the equipment
and send it via United Parcel Service to Envirocycle, a
Hallstead, Pa., recycling firm. Consumers can sign up for
IBM’s program at the time of purchase or by contacting IBM.

MP3.com to pay Universal $53.4 million in damages

joining the Advisory Board of the GNOME Foundation, which aims to promote the
GNOME graphical desktop. Linux-Mandrake operating system has included GNOME
since early versions and the GNOME has recently become the desktop of choice for many
