Questions and Answers:
What is a Plug Fest?:
A Plug Fest is a 2-3 day event in which major OEMs bring their latest
and
greatest systems, and
IHVs bring their components to test on all of the systems for
compatibility.
This will be a
distribution-neutral, platform neutral Linux Plug Fest, and we believe
will be a
first in the Linux
community. We will completely sponsor the event, managing all facility
requirements,
scheduling and so forth.
Objective of the Plug Fest:
This event is being held to promote compatibility between the newest
hardware
and the latest
Linux kernel in the industry. Our goal is to eliminate interoperability
problems
by ensuring
proper implementation of Linux products.
Why participate?:
Why not? What better opportunity to bring the leaders in the OEM
systems market
together
with the major IHVs to conduct mutual testing against their products
together
with the latest
Linux kernel.
Dates of the Plug Fest:
The dates for this event are October 22-26, 2000. Vendors may opt to
stay longer
and schedule
debug sessions with one another, if needed. Please bear in mind that
the
participant
registration deadline is September 15, 2000 and the hotel room
reservation
deadline is
October 1, 2000.

sessions between add-in
card and system, motherboard, and BIOS vendors. Linuxcare Labs will
provide
technical
consultants and “gurus” to assist in testing and debugging. Engineers
must
accompany all
equipment tested. Please see that attached Test Plan for more details
on
testing.
