The Australian government has had the legal power to shut down Web sites it doesn’t like for six months now, but AustralianIT says they’ve only actually closed 16 so far in reation to 160 complaints they’ve received.

The Register is amused but not surprised by this phenomenon. One paragraph in the story says, “Yeah, right. Sony has such a knack of pitching demand predictions just below the
level consumer interest finally reaches, that it’s pretty clear the company is holding
back on supply to boost interest in the product.”
