Quebec justice officials estimated that the Canadian province “acted illegally” by choosing to buy Microsoft software instead of free Linux software without having made a call for tenders.

Back to 2006, this year the RRQ, (Régie des Rentes du Québec) choose to update the software to Microsoft Vista for 722.00 Canadian Dollar (USD 695.000) considering that only Microsoft was able to meet their needs.

But, the real is the Linux Group from Quebec inform the RRO the posibility to get GNU software for free, with similar service to those of Microsoft. Microsoft and the company Compugen will pay for this contract.
